When you come to an AA meeting, you will often hear people talk about sponsorship or their Sponsor. A sponsor is just another member of AA who has worked through a programme of recovery to get sober. The leaflet below gives a little more information. But the best way to find out what this is and means for you is to just ask someone at the meetings. It is left to individuals to ask someone to sponsor them. It is suggested that the sponsor has longer sobriety than the sponsee, and it definitely needs to be someone you think you could talk to openly.
